C6 CORVETTE

This beautiful Corvette sold on 4/6/2011 to its new owner in CANADA!

Enjoy your newest addition to your family, Parm!

This is a gorgeous one-owner 2005 C6 corvette, limited production color magnetic red II (like candy apple), very low 19,228 miles, with all of the bells and whistles - PLUS, the balance of the transferable $0 deductible GM Factory warranty good to June 27, 2011 and 72,052 miles!!!!!  Click on the images below to see selected pages from the warranty contract.

This Vette has it all. Among the standard and optional features, it includes:

The targa top is one-piece and removes quickly.  It stores on special brackets in the hatch area to keep it secure while driving.  Our favorite outing is taking off the top and driving along the ocean or in the mountains!

Magnetic Selective Ride Control

This is a cool (and expensive) option we have on this Corvette.  The optional F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension features magneto-rheological dampers able to detect road surfaces and adjust the damping rates to those surfaces almost instantly for optimal ride and body control. Magnetic Ride Control debuted on the 2003 50th Anniversary Edition Corvette, and is the world’s fastest reacting suspension, replacing mechanical valves with nearly instantaneous reactions of magneto-rheological fluid. The system has been improved for the C6, allowing drivers more differentiation in character between the system’s two settings, “Tour” and “Sport.”

History of this Corvette

When we went shopping in early 2005 to purchase a new Vette to replace our C5 (see picture of the C5 and C6 together below), we were unable to find one brand new and fully-loaded in California in this color.  The Magnetic Red II was a very limited production red - and they sold out very quickly just after the redesigned C6 Vette hit the showroom floors.  We could not order it because the factory stopped orders for the color early in the model year.  Here are the actual production statistics1 if you are interested:

The first production year for the C6 officially came to a close on September 8, when the last 2005 Corvette came off the end of the assembly line. A total of 37,372 cars were built during the model year, with no ZO6 production. Coupes proved to be more popular than ever with 72 percent of total production and convertibles taking the remaining 28 percent. The most popular exterior color was Black (21.4 percent), followed by Light Tarnish Silver (18.4 percent), Victory Red (15 percent), Luxo Blue (10.1 percent), Magnetic Red (9.1 percent), Sunset Orange (8 percent), Millennium Yellow (5.4 percent), White (5.3 percent).  Only 17% were built with the 6-speed transmission.  The rest had the 4-speed automatic.

So, we hunted on the Internet looking for a needle in the haystack.  There were only about 3,400 Magnetic Red corvettes produced in all of the U.S. - and the number of those with the 6-speed and fully loaded would be in the hundreds!  We got lucky, however, and found our new Vette sitting on a lot in Whitefish, Montana at Don K Chevrolet.  We approached the manager at our local Chevrolet dealership and he agreed to do a dealer trade to get us this rare Corvette.  It took about 8 weeks before we took delivery on June 27, 2005.  We have been its proud parents since then.

The C6 is still the current production design - meaning, if you park this next to new Corvette, the only telltale sign I know about that would give a clue that it is not a new one is a tiny less than 1" square GM logo near the bottom rear of each door!  If you bought the tiny decorative piece at the parts department and stuck it on, I can't see a way to tell it apart on the road from a new Vette!

A comparably equipped new Corvette would sticker out at over $60,000 (this vehicle had an original sticker price of $55,030 in 2005).  After adding the premium $0 deductible warranty and LoJack system, this Vette cost us over $67,000 out the door!  Today, with the 6-year $0 deductible warranty and LoJack, a new Vette would price out at over $70,000 out the door.

This Vette gets unbelievable gas mileage on the highway.  We have exceeded 30 MPG on our several trips to Las Vegas!  For a car with this kind of performance to get such exceptional gas mileage that exceeds much smaller and lighter cars is a tribute to its engineering!

We have averaged just over 3000 miles a year on this Vette, using it primarily for special occasions or our annual trip to Las Vegas (where I attend a seminar every year).  It has never been a daily commuting vehicle!  All service has been done at Community Chevrolet in Burbank (where we bought it).  Important to some - no one has ever smoked in this Vette!

So, why are we selling if we went to so much trouble to find it?  My wife has become partially disabled (with a spine injury).  She no longer can drive the Corvette because of the 6-speed.  In fact, none of our cars worked well for her.  We already sold a gorgeous 2010 F150 Raptor (wife could not easily get into it), and replaced it with a new Lexus.  Next, the Vette goes and we will replace it and an Escape hybrid with another vehicle yet to be determined.

We are changing our rolling stock out for vehicles easier for my wife to drive.   That is the only reason why this Vette is being offered for sale.

For more information or to take a closer look, contact Dick at (818) 400-0675.  I have included an ONSTAR diagnostic report below.  The new owner gets a 3-month trial period with OnStar.

The Vette is located in Burbank, California.  The pictures were taken last winter while on a day trip up in the San Bernardino mountains of California.  Click on any of the small images below to see a larger picture.
